NE Ohio isn't even the worst of it. The heart of it seems to cut from Cincinnati at the northwest end, southeast through southern WV.

Another thing about these opiates in addition to addiction and OD-ing is that they fuck your liver. If I recall correctly, vicodin for example is an acetaminophen pill coated with opiate at the outer layer. Acetaminophen wrecks your liver.

The synthetic opiods are outdoing the poppy derived drugs. (Fentanol?) Some of the Fentanol is so concentrated that it can be a danger to first responders (Police-EMS-Fire)

Damn, that’s some powerful shit! If it can mess up the first responders, imagine what that will do to the guy using it...

    From wikipedia

In June, 2016 the Royal Canadian Mounted Police seized one kilogram of carfentanil shipped from China in a box labelled "printer accessories". According to the Canada Border Services Agency, the shipment contained 50 million lethal doses of the drug, more than enough to wipe out the entire population of the country

From what I have heard from local news reports, some local police officers just about overdosed accidently from just coming in to skin contact with fentanil.

It’s the same stuff the Russians used in the Moscow theater hostage incident, ended up killing a lot of hostages, mostly because the responders didn’t know what happened and didn’t have respiration gear and enough naloxone.

Compared to a Vicodin, it’s like comparing goldfish to great sharks.

Fentanyl isn't quite as powerful as that, although it is a pretty solid drug. Fentanyl has a pretty short half-life, so it's no available at an effective dose for very long and within an hour it's no longer effective. I use it every day when sedating my patients for invasive procedures, many people wear a fentanyl patch for chronic pain, and there are even fentanyl lollipops available for cancer patients.

The stuff that's fucking up cops and first responders is carfentanyl. Carfentanyl is exponentially stronger than fentanyl, which is itself almost 100 times stronger than morphine.

Couldn't think of a better thread.

I've been in Atlanta for 4 weeks. The city seems weirdly empty. Lots of traffic but VERY few people anywhere outside of their cars.

On a related note, I have not seen a white person outside of work or the hotel we stay at in four weeks here. Not at restaurants, not at Kroger, not at the gas station. Nowhere. I feel like I'm the last white guy in Atlanta.

Yep, no white people live inside the 285 perimeter except for a few expensive developments along 400 on Buckhead, Sandy Springs and maybe Alpharetta. Most the people who live ITP are liberals or have to live there because they are county/city employees.

When I was a kid I thought of Mexicans as another group of whites, just they could tan really well.

Weird, the only times I have ever met any Mexicans I have usually mistaken them for Asians at first.

In high school there was a boy from India named Singh. Some Italian kid thought he was Mexican.
