Damn they really cracking down. You wouldn't think people would be looking for obscure Japanese jazz. I guess it must be some kind of bots with a copyright database or something.

I just checked only tracks 1 and 5 are down. Speaking of which Winbot, track 2 on cosmos (sunset) sounds a little off. Where did you get it?

It was an old link to some obscure upload site. I listened on headphones and noticed that, it might be a vinyl/cassette dub because there's a lot of analog noise in tracks 1-3.

Already burned through his whole discography a few times and listened to some similar stuff, help!! Youtube sucks now I think? It's tough to find this stuff unless it has lyrics.

Okay guys I hope your anus is prepared because we're going into deep shit now. I've got some Ghibli jazz and Platina jazz to start off and later I'm going to send you down the Touhou rabbit hole.

Couldn't resist posting another Ryo Fukui album. If you liked his sound in the first album, Winbot you'll like this too.

Some classic Yuji Ohno from the Castle of Cagliostro movie (still widely regarded as one of the best Japanese animation movies, praised even by western directors from a cinematic point of view)

Some other Yuji Ohno jazz standards for Lupin III soundtracks

Ok time for some Touhou stuff. Touhou is weird. It is an obscure Japanese video game series (that I've never played) and famous for jazz soundtracks as well as inspiring fan music in the same style. I'll post my 3 favorite tracks to start (there was another one I really liked but it got taken down, I remember it had a blonde anime chick on the cover, that's a Touhou tell, always have anime chicks on the covers)

The crazy thing about Touhou is it isn't all made by the same people. It's almost its own genre in some cases with fan bands producing their own work. As you can see by the numbers (goes into the hundreds) there is a ton of material here

MM, recommend me five jazz songs. Bear in mind I'm a guitarist and really appreciate talented players, but don't let that limit your suggestions! I have never gotten into jazz although I've heard some really cool jazz guitar over the years.

Dude there are already so many recommendations here! I'm a piano and brass kind of guy but if you want some jazz guitar try this on for size

Most of the stuff I've posted on page 2 has been single tracks. Just try a few random ones with anime covers.

I am guessing that Ryo Fukui and Bill Evans heavily influenced each other, my jazz playlist started playing Evans and Fukui tracks consecutively and it all totally blended together.
